Child rescued during fire in Woodridge Tuesday
A child was rescued by firefighters Tuesday morning during a structure fire in Woodridge.
According to a news release from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District, firefighters were dispatched to the 3300 block of 83rd Street around 8:30 a.m. for an activated alarm and reports of smoke coming from a building with residents inside.
During a search of the building, firefighters rescued a child from a second-floor bedroom. The child was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital.
Officials said the fire was under control within 10 minutes. The cause is under investigation.
