Dining out: Lobster and rosé at Eddie V’s, chef collab dinner and more
Lobster rolls and rosé sound like a perfect summer pairing in the Hamptons, or you could just go to Eddie V’s in Oak Brook to enjoy their Eddie's Golden Nights event. Also, six St. Charles breweries have teamed up for the fourth year to craft a special collaborative brew to benefit a worthy cause.
Tastes of summer
Just in time for National Lobster Day (Sunday, June 15) and National Rosé Day (Saturday, June 14), Eddie V’s in Oak Brook is celebrating both during its Eddie's Golden Nights event. Now through July 25, guests can dine on a warm or chilled lobster roll on a buttery brioche bun served with French fries and select a glass of Whispering Angel Rosé, Brewer-Clifton chardonnay or pinot noir for $38. Upgrade to Veuve Brut Yellow Label or Rosé by the glass for an additional $10. Plus, enjoy live music in the V Lounge.
Did someone say rosé?
You had to know The Hampton Social would be all over National Rosé Day. Head to the suburban locations in Burr Ridge, Skokie and South Barrington on Saturday, June 14, for Pink Power Hour from 4 to 6 p.m. for half-price bottles and glasses of Hampton Water rosé, as well as half off glasses of frosé.
Brewing for a Cause
The STC Six is a beer collaboration of six St. Charles breweries that have teamed up for a cause. The fourth-annual release — a West Coast pilsner combining the hoppiness of a pale ale with the crispness of a pilsner — from 93 Octane Brewery, Alter Brewing + Kitchen, Broken Brix Fermentation Emporium, D & G Brewing, Pollyanna Brewing & Distilling, and Riverlands Brewing will debut at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Pollyanna, 106 S. Riverside Ave., St. Charles.
One dollar from every sale of the STC Six Collaborative Beer and the limited-edition glassware will go to Support Over Stigma, a local nonprofit that provides services for military personnel, veterans and first responders to help them overcome the mental health and service-related challenges they encounter.
Baja in the ’burbs
The Greggory is bringing Baja to the ’burbs with its second chef collaboration dinner.
Chef Carlos Gaytán, owner of Tzuco in Chicago and the first Mexican chef to earn a Michelin star, will team up with the The Greggory’s José Sosa to present a five-course Baja-inspired dinner and wine pairing at the South Barrington restaurant Wednesday, June 26.
Gaytán and Sosa, who worked together at Ummo in Chicago, will cook up the flavors of Valle de Guadalupe, known as Mexico’s Napa Valley, offering hearth-roasted seafood, flame-grilled meats, bright citrus salsas and smoky chiles, all paired with wines from the Valle.
The dinner is $200 (wine pairing is included) and reservations are available at OpenTable.
Hey, Boo Boo, I spy a pic-a-nic basket
Just in time for picnic season, Big Bowl has launched Chef’s Favorites To-Go, a new carryout package for four available at the Lincolnshire and Schaumburg restaurants.
Guests can choose two appetizers such as dumplings or Sichuan green beans, two main dishes, including General Tso’s chicken, Mongolian beef and sweet and sour shrimp, and one fried rice or noodle dish. The carryout and delivery package is $75, plus tax. See the full menu and order on the website.
