Wheaton’s Gary UMC hosts ‘Gilead’ book discussion this summer

Read and discuss Marilynne Robinson’s Pulitzer-Prize winning novel, “Gilead” at 10 a.m. every other Sunday, starting June 15 to July 27, at Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St. in Wheaton.

The Rev. Daniel Cochran will lead the discussion on the 2004 novel. Robinson’s writing explores topics from faith and theology to politics and economics.

In “Gilead,” we meet the aging Rev. John Ames of Iowa as he writes a heartfelt letter to his young son. “Gilead” is an unforgettable journey into a simple faith with profound implications. Read the book on your own and join the discussion this summer.

The church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. This summer, the church offers worship at 9 a.m., including Kids’ Church. At 10 a.m. there’s a coffee fellowship hour, plus the chapel is available for prayer and reflection. For more information, go to garychurch.org or contact the church office at office@garychurch.org
