DuPage to host second annual conference exploring AI’s role in education
The DuPage Regional Office of Education is hosting its second annual Conference on Artificial Intelligence, titled “Revolutionizing Education: The Role of AI and Technology in Shaping Tomorrow’s Learning,” on Thursday, June 5, at Lake Park High School in Roselle.
This future-focused event invites educators, school leaders, and educational stakeholders to engage in critical conversations about how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are reshaping the K-12 landscape.
Attendees will explore tools, strategies, and practices designed to enhance student learning, promote equity, and prepare young people for a future defined by rapid innovation.
“Last year’s AI conference was incredibly well-attended, and the response from educators was overwhelmingly positive,” said Amber Quirk, regional superintendent of DuPage County Schools. “The strong demand for continued learning around AI integration is why we’re bringing this event back, with an even greater focus on practical tools and thoughtful dialogue.”
Dr. Vickie Trotter, Assistant Regional Superintendent of DuPage County Schools, agrees that this training is critical.
“Our schools are navigating one of the most transformative periods in educational history,” Trotter said. “It is essential that educators lead the way in learning about, applying, and critically evaluating the role of AI in our classrooms and communities. This conference equips participants with the skills and understanding needed to do just that.”
Robin Lipkowitz, director of instructional technology, emphasized the importance of empowering educators with the right tools and mindset.
“As technology evolves at an unprecedented pace, it’s our responsibility to ensure educators feel confident and capable in leveraging AI to support teaching and learning,” Lipkowitz said. “This conference is about more than just tools — it’s about building a culture of curiosity, ethical practice, and innovation in every classroom.”
The conference will feature a keynote presentation by Eric Santos, Regional Ed Tech Coordinator at the Learning Technology Center.
With nearly two decades in public education, Santos brings extensive experience in science, STEM, instructional coaching, and responsible AI integration in K-12 settings. He has worked with administrators, teachers, and families across the Chicago area, delivering impactful training on how to harness AI tools thoughtfully and responsibly.
Breakout sessions will cover a range of timely topics, including:
• “AI, Misinformation, and Media Literacy: Incorporating Technoskepticism”
• “Cultivating Districtwide AI Literacy: Essential Skills for Success”
• “The Kid in the Back of the Class: Using AI to Create Inclusive Classroom Environments”
• “AI in Action: Equity, Experimentation, and Educational Leadership”
• “From Audio to Action: Amplify Student Voice with Creative Projects”
This one-of-a-kind event reflects the DuPage ROE’s commitment to innovation, professional growth, and the future of education in Illinois and beyond.
