Local tomato grower to speak on heirloom varieties

Join the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners in McHenry County for a presentation by Bob Zeni “The Chicago Tomato Man” on Tuesday, June 3.

Zeni has had numerous speaking engagements and television appearances regarding his business and non-profit charitable donations. In 2024, he donated more than 1,200 heirloom tomato plants to more than a dozen charities.

Zeni will be talking about many of the heirloom varieties he grows and offering tips on transplanting and the general ongoing care of these plants.

The program, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the McHenry County Farm Bureau office, 1102 McConnell Road in Woodstock. Arrive at 5:15 p.m. so it can start promptly at 5:30 p.m.
