Fire damages tobacco shop in Addison

A tobacco shop caught on fire Wednesday morning in Addison.

Firefighters were called around 10:49 a.m. to the store at 330 W. Lake St. There was heavy smoke, then fire on the first floor, according to Addison Fire Protection District Chief Brock Herion.

He said there was one worker at the store at the time; Herion said he believes she first tried to put out the fire before calling 911.

One firefighter was injured when they twisted a knee, Herion said.

No cause has been determined. The DuPage County fire and arson task force is investigating the fire, although there is nothing yet to indicate it was due to arson, according to Herion.
