Bloomingdale runner is top female finisher for Marklund 5K event

Alicia Lesiewicz of Bloomingdale crossed the finish line ahead of all other female participants at Marklund’s eighth annual Run, Walk & Roll-Bloomingdale 5K/1-mile event, held on April 27. Her finishing time was 20:52.

More than 430 participants took to the streets either running, walking or rolling along the course in their wheelchairs for the event which started and finished at the Marklund Philip Center in Bloomingdale.

The event raised funds and awareness for Marklund, a nonprofit organization that provides residential, educational and therapeutic services to children and adults with profound developmental disabilities.

John Oldenburg of Aurora was the overall male finisher with a time of 17:46.
