Joint Memorial Day Observance to be held in Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg May 26

The public is invited to attend a joint Memorial Day Observance Monday, May 26 in both Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. at the Hoffman Estates Veterans Memorial site in front of the Hoffman Estates Police Department at 411 W. Higgins Road.

Following the lowering of the flag in Hoffman Estates, the observance will move to Schaumburg for a 10:45 a.m. ceremony at St. Peter Lutheran Church and School, 202 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg.

The observance will be an outdoor event held rain or shine, with an indoor contingency if needed for severe weather.

Following the observance, weather permitting, hot dogs and other refreshments will be served at the Picnic Grove at St. Peter Church. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Joe Sabatino, president of the Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates Rotary Club, will serve as master of ceremonies. Other participants include the Spring Valley Concert Band; Patrick Higgins, bagpiper; honor guards from the Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates public safety departments; American Legion Post 1983 and VFW Post 2202; and volunteers from various philanthropic organizations.
