Schaumburg hosting Public Works Open House May 31

The village of Schaumburg invites the public to attend its free Engineering & Public Works Open House from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at the Engineering & Public Works Facility, 714 S. Plum Grove Rd.

The event will include touch-a-truck, equipment displays, informational booths, demonstrations, free giveaways, snacks and more. Kona Ice will also be on-site for purchase.

Schaumburg residents are invited to participate in the K-8 Student Drawing Contest. Young artists are asked to submit drawings on the theme “What Public Works Means to You.” Winners of each grade category (K-2, 3-5, 6-8) will be awarded a personalized street sign and honored at the open house. Submit artwork by Friday, May 16 by dropping off or mailing to the Public Works facility at 714 S. Plum Grove Rd.

Recognizing the urgent needs of animals at local rescue organizations, the village is proud to collect items and monetary donations at the Public Works Open House to benefit the Almost Home Foundation and Chicagoland Dog Rescue.
