Taste of Chicago

If you’re looking to send a taste of Chicago to friends or family around the country, you’ll soon be able to double the hometown flavor. Giordano’s is teaming up with Buona to combine two Chicago staples, deep-dish and Italian beef, into one pizza starting on National Italian Beef Day Saturday, May 24.

Each 10-inch pizza is topped with Buona Italian beef, hot giardiniera and nearly a full pound of cheese. Shipped frozen and ready to bake, the pizza will be available online only at ship.giordanos.com in packs of two, four and six.

Happy anniversary

Main Street Social in Libertyville is celebrating its eighth anniversary Saturday with a day of festivities that starts with an outdoor jazz brunch featuring Charles Heath playing sets from 11 a.m. to noon and 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Then from 2:30-4:30 p.m., sample 20 wines during Rosé Fest, with wines from California, Italy and France in addition to the restaurant’s proprietary Bright Angel and Main Street Social Wines. The tasting is $20, but that’s waived with any wine purchase of $20 or more. Stick around for an outdoor bourbon, scotch and rye whiskey tasting presented by Gold Eagle from 7-9 p.m. for $30.

National wine day

Twenty-four hours isn’t enough to celebrate National Wine Day properly, so El Tapeo in Oak Brook is offering a weeklong special with $10 glasses of Spanish wine Monday through Saturday, May 19-24.

The modern dining restaurant located on the 9th floor of Le Meridien Chicago-Oakbrook Centre will offer two varietals — tempranillo and albariño — to pair with the Spanish cuisine. El Tapeo also recently introduced new golden hour specials from 4-6 p.m. each weeknight, with deals that include five tapas for $60 everyday, $10 off paella on Mondays and a complimentary charcuterie board with any purchase on Thursdays.

Speaking of wine …

You can help local charities while enjoying wine at a pair of Cooper’s Hawk locations from 5-7 p.m. every Wednesday during May.

On Wine Wednesdays, 50% of all wine purchased, either in the restaurant or taken to go, at the Bloomingdale location at 200 S. Gary Ave. will be donated to Almost Home Foundation to support their mission of rescuing and re-homing animals in need.

In Kildeer, at 20423 N. Rand Road, 50% of all wine purchased will go to benefit Bricks of Hope, which delivers Lego toys to sick children during their hospital stays.
