Des Plaines seeks volunteers for Earth Month cleanup at Axehead Lake

Environmentally friendly volunteers are invited to Des Plaines on April 12 for the annual Earth Month project.

The city is teaming up with a nonprofit group called Clean Up - Give Back for the activity at Axehead Lake.

Work will begin at 11 a.m. and wrap up at 1 p.m. Gloves, tools, safety vests and trash bags will be provided.

Volunteers should head to the lake via the Chippewa Woods Forest Preserve entrance, 2651 S. River Road.

Participation is free and open to anyone. You can register at cleanupgiveback.org, but walk-ups are welcome.
