Sandra Mosak: 2025 candidate for Wauconda village board

Bio

Office sought: Wauconda village board (Vote for 3)

City: Wauconda

Age: 61

Occupation: IT manager/project manager

Previous offices held: N/A

What is the most serious issue your community will face in the coming years and how should the village board respond to it?

How money is being spent. There needs to be a great level of transparency. Some areas I’ve questioned and I’m not able to find the answers. There should be an place where information (bids, financial information, road maps for future projects and any other info related to Wauconda) is kept and open to the public.

How would you describe the state of your community's finances? What should be the top priorities for spending during the next few years? Are there areas of spending that need to be curtailed?

I’m not sure since I’m not able to clearly identify where the money is being spent, how many bids were requested and/or received. Priorities should be the growth of the town.

What do you see as the most important infrastructure project the community must address? Why and how should it be paid for? Conversely, during these uncertain economic times, what project(s) can be put on the back burner?

We need to bring more businesses to Wauconda and boost the economy here. To create a community ownership, we should reach out to the residents via a poll on the Wauconda Facebook page or email with categories (restaurants, retail, and other shopping). The hotel that is being discussed should be tabled and the restrictions on the Airbnb housing should be lifted.

My understanding is the hotel is being advertised as located in a beachfront community but I don't see the space available to this.

Describe your experience working in a group setting to determine policy. What is your style in such a setting to reach an agreement and manage local government? Explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions with your village board.

I have many years experience working with large groups, I’ve implemented policy as well as negotiated with vendors for savings in dollars and effort. We need to give the residents of the town a voice, as board members we should be impartial to the residents concerns and recommendations. All suggestions should be given the same amount of consideration.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I thoroughly research and analyze the facts to reach a conclusion that benefits the greater community. While I might not always agree with everything, I strive to understand the bigger picture. I deeply love Wauconda and am committed to seeing our community thrive. The small-town charm of Wauconda is something I cherish and want to preserve.

What’s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?

We should collaborate with neighboring smaller communities around Wauconda to learn how they’ve addressed specific issues. By adopting the platforms and strategies that have benefited their communities, we can streamline the spending of our tax dollars. This will help us maximize the impact of our budget, increase traffic to Wauconda, boost local spending, and ultimately grow our town into something we can all be proud of.
