Unprofessional, immature campaign

The Wauconda mayoral election has two opposing slates. The incumbent group is “Wauconda Strong,” featuring Mayor Jeff Sode and three trustee candidates. They have experience, a vision, plans and a record of successes to improve the village for all residents and local businesses. They have a transparent and fiduciary approach to the issues and how they operate, for the good of everyone in town.

The opposing slate is Wauconda Screams 4 Ice Cream (ws4ic), featuring JR Meyer and three trustee candidates. Their campaign is run entirely via a Facebook page. They have no experience, plans, or ideas. The campaign is based entirely on deceit, as their approach is to keep repeating lies and insinuations on their FB page. They continually make claims of corruption, nepotism, bullying and malfeasance by the current administration. None of this exists.

JR Meyer has made FOIA requests for thousands of pages of village records over the last three-plus years in his obsessive search for a smoking gun and has found not a shred of evidence to support any of his claims. Yet, the accusations continue. JR Meyer and his slate of trustees, have nothing to offer the village of Wauconda in terms of what they would do to improve the community. All that exists is JR Meyer’s grudge against the village and his constant attempts to poison the communal discourse in Wauconda. Their campaign is notable for its unprofessionalism, immaturity and deceit.

In today’s politics, deceit is basically cost free. If it is pointed out, you just repeat it, or make up another lie. It is embarrassing that our society allows this state of affairs to exist. It would be a catastrophe for Wauconda if it succeeds in this mayoral election.
