One displaced by Schaumburg fire

One resident was displaced by a fire in a four-unit building in Schaumburg Sunday afternoon, Schaumburg fire officials said.

Schaumburg firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on the 500 block of Onyx Court at around 2:30 p.m., fire officials said. A homeowner self-evacuated and called 911.

Fire officials said crews reported what appeared to be a small fire along the exterior of the building on one of the balconies.

Officials said there was no need to upgrade the fire response. The fire was under control within 10 minutes.

Investigators found fire in the interior as well as the exterior of the building, officials said.

There were no injuries to residents or firefighters. All units except for one were habitable, and most of the residents were able to return to their homes. The scene was clear at about 4:30 p.m.

The fire is under investigation, and damage estimates were unavailable.
