What is the most serious issue your community will face in the coming years and how should the village board respond to it?
We need to fill our empty buildings with businesses. We will do this by researching and finding buyers and developers who are interested in starting a business in Island Lake.
How would you describe the state of your community's finances? What should be the top priorities for spending during the next few years? Are there areas of spending that need to be curtailed?
We are in great shape as far as community finances.
What do you see as the most important infrastructure project the community must address? Why and how should it be paid for? Conversely, during these uncertain economic times, what project(s) can be put on the back burner?
Our community needs to address the empty buildings and find developers and interested businesses to come to Island Lake.
Describe your experience working in a group setting to determine policy. What is your style in such a setting to reach an agreement and manage local government? Explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions with your village board.
I try and work in a group were all voices are heard. Then we need to work through any problems by coming up with solutions. We need to hear all the pros and cons before the final agreement or decision is made.
What makes you the best candidate for the job?
I have given back to my local community for over 25 years. I am passionate about improving our city and making it safe for all of our families.
What’s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?
None
