Why are you running for this office? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?
As a passionate student advocate, I am running for Roselle District 12 school board to serve my community by using my vast experience with collaboration to work with all contributors to provide the best possible outcomes for our students.
What is the role of the school board in setting and monitoring the curriculum?
The school board has a responsibility in approving the curriculum for the district and making sure that it aligns with state standards and the needs of the community. The school board monitors the effectiveness of the curriculum by reviewing data provided by the schools it serves.
Are there curriculum issues within the district that you feel need particular attention from the board? How do you view your role in confronting policy or curriculum controversies: provide leadership even if unpopular, give a voice to constituents - even ones with whom you disagree, or defer to state authorities?
I am not aware of any curriculum issues within Roselle District 12 that need particular attention from the board.
Describe your experience working in a group setting to determine policy. What is your style in such a setting to reach an agreement and manage school district policy? Explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions for your school board.
I feel that it is the role of a school board member to be the voice of their constituents while providing leadership when necessary.
What is your assessment of the school district's diversity and equity efforts? Do you support the continuation or enhancement of such programs, of would you rather see them diminished. Please explain your reasoning.
I believe that social emotional learning programs in schools are very important, and I will support them. Students need to feel safe emotionally in order to be available to learning.
What makes you the best candidate for the job?
I make the best candidate for Roselle District 12 school board because I am passionate about all students having access to quality education, maintain a high level of integrity and loyalty to my team, collaborate well with others, and recognize my need to continue learning to be the best member I can be.
What’s one good idea you have to better your district that no one is talking about yet?
I don't have any ideas that haven't already been talked about within the district.
