Why are you running for this office? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?
There are many.
What is the role of the school board in setting and monitoring the curriculum?
School board can monitor, but I'm not sure about setting
Are there curriculum issues within the district that you feel need particular attention from the board?
Yes they are, one example is the math, far too complicated and confusing to students.
How do you view your role in confronting policy or curriculum controversies: provide leadership even if unpopular, give a voice to constituents — even ones with whom you disagree, or defer to state authorities?
Yes, we are agree to disagree; voice of the constituents is very important and should be considered; leadership is very near and dear to me, it's not about popular or not, it's about what is right.
Describe your experience working in a group setting to determine policy. What is your style in such a setting to reach an agreement and manage school district policy? Explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions for your school board.
Listening is very important to me, before my own input. Considering everyone’s opinion and make a decision to benefit students, teachers, parents and constituency to move the district forward.
What is your assessment of the school district's diversity and equity efforts? Do you support the continuation or enhancement of such programs, or would you rather see them diminished. Please explain your reasoning.
It's not about diversity and equity, it's about equal opportunity given to all students and encourage them to use it, take advantage of it. No other country in the world give you that. Use it.
What makes you the best candidate for the job?
I don't pretend to be the best, but I can use my common sense to bring the best out for the district to flourish.
What’s one good idea you have to better your district that no one is talking about yet?
Language barrier is big concern. To be able to understand and learn, we should speak the same language. We have kids coming to the schools not knowing English. What I have in mind is to teach the English first for those kids, before put the kids in the regular classroom.
It's hard for both teachers and students. Knowing the language well is crucial for success.
Common sense, listen, respect, collaborate and apply for the best of the District 301 — students, teachers, parents and constituency.
