Candidates prioritize service to community

All students benefit from an effective Board of Education that respects various opinions, trusts each other’s intent, understands the importance of good governance and keeps partisan politics out of board work. As former District 200 board presidents, we recognize the importance of good school board leadership. We support the following candidates in the April 1 election.

Rob Hanlon has served eight years on the school board, steadily leading through his roles as board secretary, vice president and currently as president. Through strong understanding of board governance and demonstrated decision-making, he always leads with students first.

Angela Blatner has served on the board for the past four years and is the parent of three D200 graduates and a current student. She listens with an open mind, asks questions to provide clarification and transparency and is a passionate advocate for all learners.

John Rutledge is a longtime Wheaton resident and has served on the board for the past two years. He brings extensive community experience, including 10 years on the Wheaton City Council, as a member of the Wheaton Rotary and his long-term volunteer work at Jefferson Early Learning Center.

Katy Ebbesen provides a unique perspective as a parent of four children attending CUSD200 Schools. Katy serves on the Warrenville Plan Commission, works as a transactional lawyer and is a D200 Community Advisory Committee member. She is the only candidate living in Warrenville.

The common bond among these four candidates is their commitment to prioritizing service to our community.

Local elections have the strongest impact on our community, yet they often experience the lowest voter turnout and are decided simply by a handful of votes. Please join us April 1 by voting for these four highly qualified District 200 board candidates.

Chris Crabtree, Winfield

Barbara Intihar, Wheaton

Andy Johnson, Warrenville

James Vroman, Wheaton
