Register for spring programming, summer camps at Northbrook Park District

The weather may still be chilly, but it’s time to start thinking about plans for spring and summer with the abundance of recreation options offered by the Northbrook Park District.

In the spring, there will be youth leagues for soccer, boys’ lacrosse and girls’ lacrosse. Adult leagues will include softball, pickup soccer (coed and women’s), pickup basketball, and men’s and women’s doubles pickleball tournaments.

As always, the park district offers a great lineup of spring events.

Brunch with the Bunny on April 12 will feature a delicious brunch, crafts, activities and a visit from the Spring Bunny. Children under 2 are free. Advance registration is required.

Pitch, Hit and Run on April 25 will have participants compete in a baseball or softball division, with the possibility of advancing through three levels of competition, with finals held during the MLB All-Star Game.

Spring Tea on May 3 will feature tea, small plates of food, spring crafts and a visit from a royal princess.

Kids’ Fishing Derby on May 17 will award prizes for the largest and smallest fish, and most fish caught. A fishing license is not needed for participants under 16.

Theater performances include “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical” presented by Northbrook Theatre Youth Company from March 11-15, and “School of Rock: The Musical” presented by Northbrook Community Theatre from May 16-18.

While summer may still feel far away, it’s never too early to purchase seasonal passes for the park district’s Northbrook Sports Center Pool and Meadowhill Aquatic Center. Early registration savings are offered through May 7.

Registration is also open for summer camps offered from June to August. Children, ages 3 to 14, can participate in a variety of camps, including swimming, sports, arts, crafts, STEM, theater, dance, ice skating, hockey and golf.

The selection includes half-day camps for ages 3 to 5 and full-day camps for ages 5 to 14. Many camps offer flexible options to attend for one week at a time. This year, most camps offer a longer day from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., an extra ninth week in August, and optional extended care from 3 to 6 p.m.

Returning this year is the Counselor in Training Program for ages 14 and 15. Each four-week program (June 9 to July 3, and July 7 to Aug. 1) will teach skills to prepare participants for a future position as camp counselor.

Those who register by Feb. 17 can save 10% on most camps.

Enrollment is open for the 2025-26 school year for Sunshine Preschool, a park district program for ages 3 to 5. Under the supervision of experienced instructors, young children gain educational and social skills while enjoying music, art, crafts, cooking, story time, science, sports, theater and field trips. Parents also can register their children for Adventure Campus, the park district’s before- and after-school care program for elementary students. The park district partners with School Districts 27, 30 and 31 to offer organized activities for children grades spring K-5 at their schools.

Registration is still being accepted for Adventure Campus locations for the current school year through May. Information regarding the 2025—26 school year will be posted beginning Feb. 27 at nbparks.org/adventurecampus.
