Wheaton apartment building sells for $8.4 million

An 18-unit boutique apartment building within walking distance of the downtown Wheaton Metra station has sold for $8.4 million.

Interra Realty, a Chicago-based commercial real estate investment services firm, facilitated the sale of Liberty Square Flats at Liberty Drive and Wheaton Avenue, on the south side of the railroad tracks that run through downtown.

Interra Associate Nathan Zito, Managing Partner Patrick Kennelly and Managing Partner Paul Waterloo represented Liberty Square Flats, LLC, the property seller, as well as the buyer — a confidential local investor. The building was constructed in 2024 with a flat roof and an exterior palette of white, gray and black.

Interra Realty also brokered the $6.95 million sale of the Lorraine Court Apartments, a 44-unit complex in Wheaton.

Two-bedroom units in Liberty Square feature quartz countertops, smart thermostats, stainless steel appliances, custom closets, and in-unit, full-size washers and dryers. Building amenities include a rooftop deck, dog washing station, outdoor patio with a grill, storage closets, heated garage parking with EV chargers, surface parking and keyless access.
