MCC offers spring break and summer programs for kids
Registration is now open for Kids and College spring break and summer programs at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake.
The Kids and College program offers a variety of classes designed to help students explore career paths, inspire new ideas, and enhance their skills, fostering a deeper knowledge and enthusiasm for learning.
The Spring Break program, held March 24-26, offers more than 25 classes for students in grades one through eight. Classes include Improv for Kids, Rowing with STEM, Cookie Decorating, a variety of art classes, plus the National Inventors Hall of Fame’s popular Camp Invention series and the Young Makers Camp presented by the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. A special session of Improv for Kids will be offered for students in grades nine through 12. Morning, afternoon, and full-day options are available.
The Summer program offers new classes starting each week from June 2-Aug. 8. Students entering grades 1-9 can choose from more than 125 classes, including the Young Makers Camp, Camp Invention, plus camps in welding, fabrication, chemical coating, health care, veterinary medicine, first responder services, theater, rowing, small engine repair, and more. Morning, afternoon, and full-day classes are available. A supervised lunch period is provided from noon to 1 p.m. for full-day attendees.
Students will be placed in their appropriate grade level groups of 15-20 campers to ensure they receive personal attention from teachers. Courses are taught by exceptional teachers, MCC faculty, and camp counselors who will engage campers with their passion and enthusiasm.
Spring break and summer 2025 classes will be held in person at MCC’s main campus in Crystal Lake unless otherwise noted.
New this year, the college has also added early arrival and late dismissal options. Parents can register to drop off students as early as 7:30 a.m., and students can stay in the late dismissal group until 5:30 p.m., an hour after classes end.
