St. Charles man sent to prison on child sex abuse-related crimes
A St. Charles man who pleaded guilty to arranging to meet a 13-year-old boy for sex was sentenced to prison Monday.
Edward Izenstark was sentenced to five years on a conviction for indecent solicitation of a minor, and five years for traveling to meet a minor. He was sentenced to three years apiece on convictions for grooming and solicitation of a sexual act, according to the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
The sentences will be served concurrently. Izenstark was given credit for the 216 days he has spent in jail awaiting trial.
Izenstark pleaded guilty Dec. 12 to indecent solicitation of a child, traveling to meet a minor, grooming and solicitation of a sexual act.
He was arrested in June. Authorities say he communicated with a 13-year-old boy via FaceTime calls, Instagram and chat messages between July 1 and Aug. 12, 2023. According to authorities Izenstark asked to see nude photos of the boy, offered to pay for sex and arranged to meet in the parking lot of a trampoline park in South Elgin.
Izenstark told Elgin police he was engaging in “fictitious role-playing.”
Izenstark had been the president of a middle-school PTO, and worked in schools as a paraprofessional, a prosecutor said during an August court hearing.
