Lisle man detained pretrial on child pornography charges
A man accused of possessing thousands of images of child sexual abuse materials is being detained pretrial in DuPage County.
Charles Eastes, 67, of the 900 block of Lacey Avenue in Lisle, was in first-appearance court Monday morning. He is charged with possession of child pornography (victim under 13) and child pornography.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children told Lisle police on Dec. 24 they had gotten a tip from Dropbox.com regarding possible child pornography in DuPage County, according to a petition for pretrial detention. On Jan. 8, police searched Eastes’ home. They say they found the images on his cellphone, desktop computer and iPad.
Authorities also say they found numerous photos Eastes had taken of middle school-aged girls waiting at a bus stop directly outside his home. According to the petition, one of the photos focused on the lower half of a girl’s body. Including the child sex abuse materials, Eastes had more than 50,000 pornographic images stored, according to the petition.
Judge Joshua Dieden wrote in the detention order that he was concerned for several reasons, including the amount of materials and that Eastes was living with a girlfriend and her 2-year-old grandchild.
Eastes’ next court date is Jan. 31.
