Schaumburg’s LaFrenere wins national award at PGA Merchandise Show
ORLANDO, Fla. — Schaumburg’s Tony LaFrenere was a winner of a PGA of America national award at this week’s 72nd PGA Merchandise Show.
LaFrenere, from the Schaumburg Park District was named the PGA’s Executive of the Year and he wasn’t the only Chicago-area honoree when awards were presented this week.
The Chicago District Golf Association won in the International Network of Golf’s Publications category, with editor Barry Cronin accepting the award. The CDGA also had three Outstanding Achiever recipients in John Lombardo (business writing) and Teddy Greenstein and Ed Sherman (profile writing).
Rory Spears was a two-time winner of Outstanding Achiever honors, being cited in both the Equipment/Apparel Writing and Podcast categories, and three others won one Outstanding Achiever award — Steve Kashul, of The Golf Scene, and Dave Lockhart, of Golf 360, in the TV/Internet category and Len Ziehm, of the Daily Herald, in Opinion/Editorial Writing.
