People on the move: New hires at Itasca Bank & Trust, Lavelle Law

Itasca Bank & Trust Co. has hired Elizabeth D. Romano as the bank’s Trust Department vice president/trust officer and appointed Thomas Gallagher as vice president/commercial loan officer.

Romano earned her Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2016 and graduated from Elmhurst University in 2013. She is a former criminal prosecutor who has argued before the Illinois Court of Appeals. She previously practiced estate and trust litigation and administration at a law firm.

In her new role, she will help the bank in managing trusts and estates.

“Her unique combination of legal expertise, trial experience, and focus on financial security make her an invaluable asset as we continue to grow our Trust Department and serve the needs of our clients,” said Michael-Anne Peck, vice president/chief trust officer of Itasca Bank & Trust Co.

Thomas Gallagher

Gallagher has more than 30 years’ experience in banking and financial consulting. He has a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, after which he joined M&I Bank in Milwaukee.

Gallagher spent nine years as a relationship manager at US Bank, specializing in the commercial banking group. He then worked for a small law firm in Milwaukee and, most recently, managed a portfolio of conventional and SBA loan customers at Byline Bank.

“His deep industry experience, commitment to understanding clients’ needs, and well-rounded background in various facets of banking will be instrumental in helping our business clients achieve their financial goals,” said John Hunt, executive vice president and chief loan officer at Itasca Bank & Trust Co.

“His deep expertise in community association lending, coupled with his strong relationship-building skills, makes him a perfect fit for our team,” said Mark Stelter, vice president, senior lender and director of Community Association Lending at Itasca Bank & Trust Co.

Lavelle Law adds new associate

Toy spent a year and a half as a law clerk with the firm before joining the team as an associate. He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and got his law degree at the Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Managing Partner Ted McGinn said Toy’s passion for serving his clients, fresh perspective, and promise he’s shown working as a clerk will make him an asset.
