Free weekend brunch for children under 12 in Northbrook

Families are invited to visit Acorn Grill + Terrace in Northbrook for a kid-friendly weekend brunch from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and Sundays, starting Jan. 11.

The brunch is free for children under age 12.

“Brunch is the perfect way to bring families together, and we’re delighted to make it even more special by offering free meals for kids under 12. It’s a wonderful opportunity for parents to relax and enjoy a meal while their children have a great time, too,” Northbrook Park District Director of Golf Greg Baron said. “We’re confident this new initiative will quickly become a favorite weekend tradition for the community.”

The special brunch menu features a range of sweet and savory offerings. Offerings include Heritage French Toast, Lox on the Green, Mediterranean Omelet, Tee Time Classic (two eggs, sausage or bacon, house potatoes and toast), Clubhouse Breakfast Tacos, Sporty’s Sando (fried egg, cheddar cheese, avocado and maple smoked bacon on a brioche bun), Breakfast Burrito, and Sunrise Burger topped by an over easy egg.

The menu for children ages 12 and under features special items designed to satisfy picky little eaters. The lineup includes French toast sticks (served plain or with seasonal fruit topping), two eggs styled any way, Mini Mulligans (egg and cheese breakfast sliders), grilled cheese, and muffins or pastries.

Starters, salads and sandwiches will also be available.

The beverage menu includes juices, coffee and the restaurant’s signature brunch cocktails, along with a variety of beer, wine and seltzers.

“We are always looking for opportunities to create events centered around family,” said Jamie Tyler-Alvarez, a member of the restaurant’s management team. “We are incredibly excited to offer our new family friendly brunch, and hope that it will become a memorable experience for all in the community.”

Acorn Grill + Terrace is located within the clubhouse of the Northbrook Park District’s Heritage Oaks Golf Club at 3535 Dundee Road in Northbrook. The restaurant is open to the public year-round.

During the off-season, the clubhouse offers Full Swing Indoor Golf on a simulator that can be rented daily. Guests can enjoy food and beverages from Acorn Grill + Terrace while playing.
