Expert advice on where to find wintering raptors
Where to find wintering raptors is the topic of the Lake County Audubon Society’s January meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Aspen Drive Library, 701 Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills.
Vic Berardi, founder of the all-volunteer Illinois Beach State Park Hawkwatch and well known raptor photographer, will discuss wintering raptors of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.
Berardi’s photos have been used by several conservation organizations and in raptor field guides.
He also has been conducting a survey the past few winters in southeastern Wisconsin for the Hawk Migration Association of North America.
For those who can’t attend, the presentation is available via Zoom at https://www.lakecountyaudubon.org/.
