Mayor considering candidates to replace Schaumburg’s senior trustee
How does Schaumburg, the second-largest hub of economic activity in Illinois, go about replacing its most experienced village trustee?
For Mayor Tom Dailly, the answer is not to start from zero.
He’s focusing his attention on those who’ve already demonstrated a commitment to the village through volunteerism on committees and commissions as potential successors to 33-year trustee George Dunham, who retired from public service on New Year’s Eve.
“I have a short list and am in the process of reviewing it now,” Dailly said.
He described his search as narrowed to less than seven candidates since Dunham announced his retirement on Dec. 10. It’s possible Dailly will have settled on an appointee for the next two years by the time he gives his State of the Village address Jan. 14.
But he has 60 days, under state law, to appoint a trustee should he need more time.
Schaumburg has a village board election on April 1. Trustees Jack Sullivan, Jamie Clar and Esha Patel are unchallenged for four-year terms.
