Irish Stew plays WinterFest at Volo Bog State Natural Area

WinterFest will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 12 at Volo Bog State Natural Area, 28478 W. Brandenburg Road, Ingleside.

Due to the uncertainty of snow much of the celebration will be held inside with live music, photo contest awards, children’s crafts, cookies and cocoa for sale by Friends of Volo Bog.

Irish Stew, formerly known as the Bridgeport Ramblers, is the featured group. It is a leading traditional Irish music band known throughout Lake and McHenry counties with a repertoire ranging from traditional Irish reels, jigs and dance tunes as well as Irish and contemporary music.

Bog tours and, if it snows, a snow sculpting contest, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing (BYO) on the Tamarack View Trail will be held outside.

A $10 donation or whatever fits your budget is suggested. Call (815) 344-1294 between 2 and 4 p.m.
