Local nonprofit recognizes Advocate Lutheran General teammates with bouquet delivery

More than 200 floral arrangements were delivered to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital on Nov. 14 to recognize and bring joy to teammates across the Park Ridge campus.

The event marked the 30,000th bouquet delivery for Inspire Through Flowers, a local service organization that repurposes donated flowers and delivers the arrangements to health care workers, patients and other community groups.

In celebration of the milestone delivery, Advocate Lutheran General teammates from eight different departments were surprised with flowers, including Respiratory, Food & Nutrition, Environmental Services, Guest Services/Transport, Case Management, Sterile Processing, the Operating Room and the Emergency Department.

“It was an honor to have our teammates selected as the recipients of such beautiful bouquets created by Inspire Through Flowers — a great reminder that their hard work and selfless dedication don’t go unnoticed,” says Allison Wyler, president of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. “Our health care workers go above and beyond every day to provide the best possible care for all, and we are grateful for any opportunity to celebrate them.”

The event was sponsored by the Advocate Lutheran General Service League, which raises funds to support programs and services benefiting the hospital. Inspire Through Flowers representatives, along with hospital leaders and the Volunteer Services team, rounded throughout the hospital delivering the bouquets and thanking teammates for their commitment to patients and community members.

“The gift of a bouquet is an unexpected moment of joy, powerful and affirming,” says Ellen Mink, Inspire Through Flowers co-founder and board member. “It enriches lives, lifts spirits, and lets others know we care.”
