Rollover crash in Schaumburg shuts down traffic for hours on Wise Road

A rollover vehicle crash in Schaumburg just before noon Saturday sent one person to the hospital with critical injuries and kept traffic shut down in both directions around it for several hours afterward.

The two-vehicle crash was reported at 11:55 a.m. near the Mobil gas station at 421 W. Wise Road at the intersection of Mitchell Boulevard, Schaumburg Police Commander Christy Lindhurst said.

One of the vehicles rolled over and its female driver was transported in critical condition to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, while the male driver of the other vehicle did not require hospitalization, Lindhurst said.

Schaumburg police’s investigation of the crash is being assisted by the Major Case Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team and Hanover Township.

Traffic from both directions continued to be shut down at 5:30 p.m. Saturday as the investigation continued, Lindhurst said.
