Innovation Hub Entrepreneurial Summit sparks community enthusiasm in Romeoville
On Tuesday, Nov. 12, Lewis University in Romeoville hosted the Innovation Hub Entrepreneurial Summit, a pivotal event that united innovators, community leaders, and entrepreneurs.
The summit showcased a diverse range of groundbreaking concepts from apps enhancing health and social interactions to technologies aimed at transforming food accessibility.
Romeoville Mayor John D. Noak humorously addressed traffic challenges and strongly supported initiatives that promote local development and technological innovation, underscoring the community’s commitment to fostering economic growth.
John Wightkin, the HUB Coordinator, emphasized the HUB’s essential role in linking academia and industry to bring innovative ideas to fruition. He spoke about the importance of collaboration and support within the HUB to enhance research capabilities and provide a nurturing environment for new tech ventures.
The event’s highlight was Jeremy Jones, founder of Aranex Materials, who proposed a new Science and Technology Park in Romeoville. This park aims to harness breakthroughs in synthetic spider silk, potentially transforming industries from automotive to aerospace.
During his presentation, Jeremy encouraged the attendees to join in a chant, igniting a spirited call of “Romeoville rising! Romeoville rising!” that echoed throughout the venue. This moment not only captured the enthusiasm of the evening but also rallied the community around a shared vision for growth and innovation.
