Pumpkin recycling, compost Saturday event at Wauconda Township

Pumpkin composting and a “bring your own bucket” compost giveback will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Wauconda Township parking lot, 505 W. Bonner Road.

The event also will feature face painting, treats and games and Mason Hill with Elephino Trivia.

The township in partnership with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County advises residents to drop off pumpkins and gourds for composting rather than throwing them in the trash. Remove candles, yarn, plastic or other decorations.

A maximum of 20 gallons per household of locally made, nutrient rich compost will be available to pick up. Bring your own buckets. Shovels provided. Visit swalco.org to learn more about composting and www.waucondatownship.com or call (847) 526-2631 for more about the event.
