Household chemical collection event in Vernon Hills

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County will hold a mobile household chemical collection event from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Vernon Hills Metra station, 75 E. Route 45.

The program is for residential waste only. An appointment is required. Aerosol products, antifreeze, motor oil, gasoline and solvent cleaners are among accepted items. Latex or water-based paint and electronics are among items not accepted.
