Cary mayor elected to serve on Illinois Municipal League board

Cary Mayor Mark Kownick was recently elected to serve as a vice president on the Illinois Municipal League board.

Kownick, who has been mayor for nearly 12 years, was among 36 elected to one-year terms as a vice president for the group representing municipalities throughout Illinois.

Kownick also sits on the board of directors for the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and served as its executive board chairman in 2023. He also has served as vice president for the McHenry County Council of Governments since 2014.
