Glenview Community Church presents 25th anniversary organ recital featuring Amanda Mole

The Simple Gifts Concert Series of the Glenview Community Church, 1000 Elm St., along with the North Shore Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, is pleased to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the installation of the Buzard pipe organ with a recital by award-winning organist, Amanda Mole at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18.

Mole is one of the leading concert organists of her generation and the winner of numerous international competitions, including first prize at the eighth International Musashino-Tokyo Organ Competition (2017), first place and audience prize at the Miami International Organ Competition (2016). She has performed at venues across the USA, Europe and Japan, and has been featured in recital at conventions of the American Guild of Organists (2022 Seattle Washington) and the Organ Historical Society (2016 Philadelphia Pennsylvania and 2018 Rochester New York).

Mole maintains a busy concertizing schedule. Her solo recital recording was released in March 2019 on the Naxos label.

The American Organist says, “Mole’s elegant, lucid performance of the Sonata No. 6 in G Major (BWV 530) was true chamber music for the organ.”

The Diapason reports “Her performance of Messiaen’s ‘Alléluias sereins’ … was, indeed, serene, with excellent balance of technical accuracy, rhythm, and structure.”

Mole is represented by Karen McFarlane Artists, Inc.

The pipe organ at the Glenview Community Church, the Buzard Opus 21, was built by John Paul Buzard pipe organ builders in Champaign, Illinois, and was completed in 1999. It has 3865 pipes, 49 straight-speaking stops, 69 ranks across three manuals and pedal. John Paul Buzard describes it as “grand and heroic.” Improvements to the acoustics in the sanctuary since the year 2000 show off the instrument’s color and versatility. An electronic Harp/Celeste stop was added in 2013.

The American Guild of Organists (AGO) is the national professional association serving the organ and choral music fields.
