Gary UMC in Wheaton offering classes to honor Indigenous people

On Sunday, Oct. 13, Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton is offering the class, “Remembering the 2012 UMC General Conference Act of Repentance toward Healing Relationships with Indigenous Peoples.”

Carey Williams Bebar will lead the discussion about the “Act of Repentance” and its continuing implications for the church at 10:10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13.

This is part of the church’s monthlong focus, “Seeing and Celebrating: Honoring Indigenous Cultures Through Listening, Reflection and Dance.” For more information about events and other classes, go to garychurch.org.

The church at 224 N. Main St. has celebrated deep roots in the community since 1853. The church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. The church offers worship at 9 and 11:11 a.m. In-between services, there’s Sunday school for all ages, a coffee fellowship hour, plus the chapel is available for prayer and reflection.
