Police hunt for knife-wielding convenience store robber

A knife-wielding man robbed a Park Ridge convenience store early Friday, police said.

The robbery occurred about 1 a.m. at 7-Eleven, 814 Higgins Road.

The thief walked into the store, threatened a clerk with a knife and demanded money from the register and the clerk’s wallet. After collecting the cash, the man fled and ran west, police said.

Police said the robber was between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He wore a black, hooded sweatshirt and a black, puffy hooded jacket with fur around the hood, as well as blue jeans, black shoes and white rubber gloves. He carried a gray-colored backpack.
