Arcade Age exhibit visits Schaumburg Township District Library through Jan. 5

Get retro at Schaumburg Township District Library and experience the joy of video gameplay on original arcade game machines.

Now through Jan. 5, The Arcade Age Exhibit installed at the Central Library, 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg, is open to everyone during regular library hours.

The exhibit includes 12 games, set to free-play, stationed in the library lobby for all ages to play and such as the unforgettable favorites Q*bert, Street Fighter 2, Donkey Kong, and Joust.

The Arcade Age Exhibit masterfully restores the best and more historically important arcade cabinets to their original glory.

Presented by the Cradle of Aviation and LI Retro, this groundbreaking and critically-acclaimed arcade exhibit explores the history and culture of arcade gaming.

The exhibit tells the story of video arcade games; from the pioneers in the early ‘40s and ’50s to the golden age in the late ‘70s and early ’80s to its crash, revival and ultimate decline in the ‘90s. It is a story of the creative and innovative people who explored groundbreaking technologies, the games that sprung from their ingenuity and a culture that was shaped by their developments.
