Schaumburg to host Public Safety Open House Oct. 5

The village of Schaumburg invites the public to attend its annual Public Safety Open House featuring interactive demonstrations and exhibits from the Schaumburg Fire and Police departments.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at Fire Station 51, 950 W. Schaumburg Road. and the adjacent Police Station, 1000 W. Schaumburg Road.

Activities will include vehicle extrication and K-9 demonstrations, emergency vehicle and equipment on display, police department tours and other interactive experiences.

This year, a live turkey fryer fire will be conducted to demonstrate the risks of deep frying a turkey. The event will also feature a bake sale benefiting the Shop With A Cop holiday program, informational booths, food, games and giveaways while supplies last.
