Community unites for a food-secure future at Harvest Against Hunger Oct. 19
For over 13 years, The GardenWorks Project, a local nonprofit organization, has led a community-wide movement to fight hunger by providing access to fresh, healthy produce for local residents and food pantries.
This season, GardenWorks is growing produce for individuals and families facing food insecurity in 182 garden beds throughout DuPage County. The organization cultivates vegetables in its own community garden in Wheaton, and provides eight local food pantries with produce donations from its gardens and local farm partnerships.
The GardenWorks Project is hosting its seventh annual fundraiser, “Harvest Against Hunger,” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the DuPage County Historical Museum in Wheaton.
By supporting this signature fall event, you help ensure that more families in Chicago’s western suburbs have access to fresh, nutritious food.
The event is for age 21 or older. Tickets are $100. Event sponsorship packages begin at $500 and include event tickets
Guests will enjoy appetizers, beverages, live music, and the opportunity to explore the museum exhibits.
All proceeds support The GardenWorks Project’s programs and services, building a more resilient and reliable local food system, accessible to all.
GardenWorks Executive Director Teri Wood reflects on the importance of this fundraiser. “This event is a unique opportunity for local community members, organizations, and businesses to come together to support a healthier, more food-secure future,” Wood said. “Taking action together, we can make a significant impact in ensuring that everyone in DuPage has access to fresh produce.”
Event sponsorships are available for community members and businesses interested in fighting hunger in their communities. Sponsors will be given prominent recognition and the opportunity to attend the event and connect with individuals and organizations working toward a more food-secure future.
