Gary UMC in Wheaton to offer pet blessing on Oct. 6

On Sunday, Oct. 6, all people and their pets of all kinds (stuffed animals, too!) are invited to attend the annual "Blessing of the Animals" worship in the courtyard of Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St. in Wheaton.

The event will begin at 3 p.m. with prayer, scripture and a reflection on parishioners’ role as stewards over God’s good creation. After worship, the Rev. Daniel Cochran will offer individual blessings for each pet until 4:30 p.m. (weather permitting).

The church celebrates deep roots in the community since 1853. It has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. The church offers worship at 9 and 11:11 a.m. In-between services, there’s Sunday school for all ages, a coffee fellowship hour, plus the chapel is available for prayer and reflection.
