Batavia United Way, Dunham Foundation, and St. Charles couple to be honored with Golden Heart Awards

TriCity Family Services recently announced the recipients of the 2024 Golden Heart Awards.

Now in its 13th year, the Golden Heart Awards celebrate individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the community’s well-being.

This year’s honorees are Batavia United Way, Dunham Foundation, and Mike and Shelley Weible. These distinguished recipients will be honored at the “Inspiring Hearts & Minds Gala” on Saturday, Sept. 21.

It will be 6 to 10 p.m. at the Q Center in St. Charles. This year’s gala, with the theme, “Road Trip to Wellness,” will feature decor and a cocktail inspired by historic Route 66, food choices from across America, and a pair of lively dueling pianos. Guests will honor the mental health journeys that TriCity Family Services clients embark on each day.

Batavia United Way has been selected for the Golden Heart Award for An Organization in recognition of its unwavering commitment to supporting local families in need. The organization has played a pivotal role in the community by addressing critical issues such as childhood hunger, educational inequality, and emergency assistance.

Through targeted initiatives and strategic partnerships, Batavia United Way has ensured that the most vulnerable members of the community receive the help they need to thrive. Their support of nonprofit organizations, like TCFS, has been instrumental in enhancing the quality of life for countless individuals and families across the area.

The Dunham Foundation is this year’s recipient of the Golden Heart Award for a Foundation. Established by John C. Dunham in 1996, the foundation has become a cornerstone of support in the greater Fox Valley community. With a focus on education, economic growth, and community development, the Dunham Foundation has disbursed over $55 million in funding to more than 210 nonprofits, including TriCity Family Services.

Their dedication to fostering collaboration among local organizations and addressing key community needs, such as mental health access, has made a profound impact. The Dunham Foundation’s recent support for a Mental Health Awareness Month event and their ongoing commitment to the organization’s counseling and internship programs underscore their vital role in the community’s well-being.

Mike and Shelley Weible of St. Charles will receive the Golden Heart Award for a Couple, recognizing their decades-long dedication to TriCity Family Services and the broader Kane County community. The couple have been steadfast supporters of the organization, including with their loyal involvement in the Holiday Adopt-a-Family program. The Weibles’ commitment to mental health and their belief in the importance of community support have made them beloved figures at TriCity Family Services, and their contributions have helped countless families in need.

“Each year, we look forward to highlighting the good work that’s happening right here in our community with the Golden Heart Awards,” said Laura Poss, executive director. “We invite you to join us in celebrating this year’s deserving honorees at our Inspiring Hearts & Minds Fundraising Gala.”

The Inspiring Hearts & Minds Gala aims to further TriCity Family Services’ mission of strengthening the mental health of our communities by providing quality care that is accessible and affordable.

This year’s event promises to be a night of celebration and inspiration, with all proceeds going toward supporting vital services. You can purchase tickets to the evening event at road2wellness.givesmart.com.
