Glen Ellyn History Center to host 29th Pioneer Day Sept. 29

Come see what life was like for the early settlers of Glen Ellyn, on the same spot where early residents lived!

The Glen Ellyn Historical Society is hosting its 29th Pioneer Day from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the historic Stacy’s Tavern Museum, 800 N. Main St. in Glen Ellyn.

Try to be a pioneer in an 1840s life. Farm animals will be on site to greet you, compliments of the Goodrich family farm. This farm family has participated in over 16 Pioneer Days at Stacy’s Corners.

Meet the Goodrich family and the great group of 4-H Club members they sponsor. Besides the live farm animals, there is music, craft-making for kids, candle making, corn shelling, apple peeling, pioneer games and toys.

Learn how to do laundry 1840s style, experience 1840s school in an outdoor classroom, tour Stacy’s Tavern, and more. This year’s Pioneer Day will be free admission, thanks to a generous donation from the Glen Ellyn Bank & Trust, which is sponsoring the event.
