Start collecting your recyclables for Roselle Recycles on Sept. 7

Green Roselle is hosting Roselle’s annual recycling event on Saturday, Sept. 7.

From 8:30 a.m. to noon, community members can visit the Roselle Metra Station’s north lot to shred documents and recycle items that cannot be included in typical curbside recycling.

Green Roselle volunteers collaborate with the Roselle Police Department and their volunteers to set up and direct people through the lot, which can be entered off Lawrence Avenue. The recycling route takes drivers past each participating vendor before exiting the lot. Accepted items include:

• Aerosols ($1/can)

• Books and records

• Crayons

• Document shredding, maximum five boxes per person

• Electronic items (TVs and monitors have a $20 fee per item)

• Eyeglasses and hearing aids

• Holiday lights

• Household batteries ($4 per pound)

• Inkjet cartridges

• Keys

• Latex paint (fee varies by size)

• Mercury thermometers, thermostats, barometers

• Propane/MAPP tanks ($4/tank)

• Foam: clean takeout containers, packing foam

They also will be collecting winter weather gear like gloves, hats, coats, and snow pants; no general clothing or textiles.

Green Roselle thanks its participating vendors for helping Roselle residents recycle their items: DTX, Flat Can Recycling, Itasca Bank & Trust, Maddie’s Mitten March, The Junkluggers, Roselle Lions Club, and SCARCE.
