New aviation training program in West Chicago

Chicago-based Spartan Education Group, which operates the Illinois Aviation Academy in West Chicago at the DuPage County Airport, on Monday announced a partnership with Atlas Air Inc.

The Atlas Cadet Academy will offer aspiring aviators a pathway to potential career opportunities for first officer positions with Atlas, a 747 operator, for cargo and passenger planes.

The program will provide curriculum covering essential aeronautical knowledge and preparation for Federal Aviation Administration certification and rating exams, Spartan said in a news release.

Initially established in 1928 as Spartan College, Spartan has trained more than 100,000 pilots and aviation technicians at campuses in Tulsa, Los Angeles, Denver, and Riverside, California.
