Lake County deputies arrest two men after attempted shooting
A Lisle man faces weapons charges in connection with an attempted shooting at a Lake County bar Friday and another man is being held on a battery charge, authorities said.
Ronald X. Owens Jr., 37, of the 2800 block of Buckingham Drive in Lisle is charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and one count of not having a valid Firearms Owner Identification card or concealed-carry license.
Edwin Roddy, 42, of the 700 block of Mill Court in Waukegan, is charged with battery in connection with the shooting. Roddy was not detained and will appear in court on Sept. 4.
Lake County sheriff’s deputies were called to a bar in the 27800 block of West Grass Lake Road near Antioch around 10:30 p.m. for a report of a man with a gun.
According to the sheriff’s office, Owens and Roddy were removed from the bar for being disruptive.
The two left, but returned moments later to confront the security guard. Owens pointed a gun at the security guard and pulled the trigger several times, but the gun malfunctioned and never fired, according to deputies.
The two left and then returned again and attempted to get into the bar. At that time, Roddy punched one of the guards, according to deputies.
Owens appeared in court Saturday and was denied pretrial release, according to a spokesman for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Roddy was released after his arrest and will appear in court on Sept. 4.
