Lavelle Law among sponsors for Aging Better Senior Expo

Two attorneys representing Schaumburg-based Lavelle Law recently participated in Elderwerks’ 10th annual Aging Better Expo on Aug. 14. Attorneys Heather McCollum and Joe Olszowka were on hand at the Stonegate Banquet & Conference Center to address issues impacting adults of all ages.

The Expo, “Planning Your Future Today,” featured speakers, resource booths, and expert education on how to age well. Lavelle Law once again sponsored the event and shared information on estate planning, elder law, and family law issues.

McCollum is an associate in the Estate Planning and Administration practice group at the firm.

“There are a number of important issues that seniors need to be aware of in the estate planning realm,” McCollum said. “It’s always a great experience for me to get out and have some personal conversations with people about making sure their estate is in good order and their wishes are properly documented.”

Olszowka attended the Expo for the first time and discussed a range of family law issues.

“There are changing dynamics today as adults are much more active, especially post-retirement than previous generations,” Olszowka said. “They are living longer, fuller lives and that includes changes in the family setting. Gray divorce is a new term we are hearing, and it reflects an increase in the number of older adults who choose to terminate marriages, often mutually and amicably.”

“We enjoyed meeting with those in attendance and hope the information that we shared will benefit seniors in the community,” McCollum said.
