Man seriously injured by fall from tree in Algonquin

A man who fell about 30 feet from a tree while working in Algonquin was flown to a Libertyville hospital for treatment on Wednesday, officials said.

The man, who is about 40 years old, was trimming trees off Souwanas Trail when he fell, according to a news release from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District. Firefighters arrived about 2:15 p.m. and found him on the ground needing medical attention.

Crews requested a medical helicopter to take the man to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville — a Level 1 trauma center — due to the severity of his injuries. Officials said they didn’t know the man’s condition.
