Hearing on senior group home in Schaumburg postponed to Sept. 18
A Schaumburg plan commission hearing on the proposed conversion of a single-family home into a group home for the care of infirm seniors was postponed to Sept. 18 at the applicant’s request.
Algonquin-based Unity Senior Residence is requesting the change.
A group of residents who attended Wednesday’s hearing to voice concerns about the proposal for 129 Millis Lane expressed frustration with the delay.
If ultimately approved by the village board, the group home would be the fifth in Schaumburg. By regulation, they are expected to blend into their residential neighborhoods with no outward sign of their different use.
The new proposal calls for up to six senior residents and a staff of two care providers present at any given time. Visiting hours would be restricted to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
